Can I still deduct my work-related moving expenses if I don’t have the receipts from my move?

I thought I had saved the receipts from my move but I can’t find them. I do however have an itemized credit card statement that shows the charges for my Penske truck rental, hotels, and gas. Will that suffice? I assume it will only be an issue if I set off any red-flags with the IRS, is this correct?

As long as you have the credit card statements showing the expenses, I’d go ahead and deduct them - if you are audited, the auditor might or might not accept that as sufficient documentation without the actual receipts though.

The credit card statement would be enough evidence.

To deduct the moving expenses you use Form 3903. You don’t attach any receipts with your return. You keep the receipts in case IRS asks for them.
If you have misplaced them or lost them, you need to collect all the information based on bank statement, credit card statement, and receipts.
