Do you agree with this statement about Peyton Manning?
Ok, so I was on Yahoo! Answers last night looking through questions to answer when I saw this. I wont name names, but someone wrote that they would prefer 10 other active QBs to win a Super Bowl for them than Peyton. They also said that they would prefer Eli over Peyton. Do you agree with that statement? If so, list the names of them.
Thank You
KILAKOMUKU!!!
Peyton will go down as the greatest QB to have ever played the game when he retires. People say that Big Ben and Tom Brady are better because they’ve proven themselves by winning superbowl and that statement is stupid. I think winning superbowls is a major part in being great, but sometimes it’s hard to win with the hand you’re dealt. Tom Brady had a good defense to go along with a good offense, and now that the defense has gotten old and isn’t good anymore how good have he Patriots been? In Big Ben’s first superbowl he had the lowest QB rating for any starting QB to win the superbowl. Even though Big Ben drove Pittsburgh back last year to win the superbowl it was James Harrison’s interception that put Pittsburgh in the drivers seat. As bad as New Orleans defense was this year they were near the top of the league in creating turnovers and that makes up for so much. When Pittsburgh’s defense struggled last year the Steelers didn’t even make the playoffs and Big Ben played pretty good still. Peyton has never had a good defense to work with, and is always ranked near the bottom in overall defense, they’re weren’t creating turnovers either. Every WR he’s had to throw too he had to start as a rookie, with the exception of Marvin Harrison, but year in and year he makes the playoffs and wins divisions. When he gets ready to retire he’ll have almost every career record, he’s already been to 3 AFC championships, 2 superbowls, and has 1 superbowl championship. He would have accomplished everything a QB could have accomplished in a career so why no put him down as the best in the league when no QB playing will have the records to go with the accomplishments like Peyton has.

I do not agree with that statement. ESPECIALLY the part about Eli. People forget Eli was on the verge of loosing his job until Plaxico Burress started playing out of his mind and was able to get catch horribly thrown balls. I say Burress’ performance during their SB season saved Eli’s job.
Really, the only bad thing you can say about Peyton is that he has been an average at best QB during the post season (which is kind of a big deal when you’re discussing all-time best QB’s, but to suggest multiple current QB’s are better than him is just silly).
Here’s my list (somewhat in order) of the top 10 best QB’s OTHER THAN Peyton right now:
1. Drew Brees
2. Tom Brady
3. Donovan McNabb
4. Brett Favre
5. Phillip RIvers
6. Ben Roethlisberger
7. Joe Flacco (I know it may sound crazy, but he is that good, his receivers just aren’t that good and they’re offense isn’t very creative…and I say this as Browns fan who hates the Ravens).
8. Jay Cutler
9. Aaron Rodgers
10. Tony Romo
really, only the first two I mentioned are the only two who deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence as Peyton.

Heck no, whoever said that is nuts. Peyton has been one of the most elite QBs of and one of the 3 active QBs who are locks for the HOF (Brady and Favre being the others). The only QB who I would even consider taking over him right now is Brees.

Of course not. People will say some really silly things on this site.
Big Ben is the only QB I would take over Peyton. Just because he is a proven QB to fit the Steelers system.
LOL @ Invisible Walnut who includes McNabb ahead of Manning because he says that Manning chokes all the time. What would you call what McNabb has done in four NFC Championship games and one Super Bowl??
LOL @ the short bus rider who includes Kyle Orton in his top ten and excludes Ben Roethlisberger.

No I don’t Peyton is a lot better than Eli, but in my mind, will never break any of Brett Favre’s records. Favre plays forever! Eli over Peyton? Dude’s that is stupid!

Of course a lot of people would take a QB other than P. Manning to win them the Super Bowl. It’s a proven fact that P. Manning chokes (on his pener) in the Postseason.
10 Other QB’s I’d rather have to win the Super Bowl (Counting down to best)
Joe Flacco (Giving him Anquan Boldin AND Derrick Mason. WOW. 4,000 yard season much?)
10) Donovan McNabb (He’s great but only getting into 1 Super Bowl hurts him)
9) Jake Delhomme (If he were to return to his 2003-2004 form, who wouldn’t?)
7) David Garrard (Watch him, he’ll do it)
6) Matt Ryan (He’s not proven in the Playoffs [0-1], but he’s a winner)
5) Aaron Rodgers (If anyone tells you he’s not an elite QB… 30+ TD passes, only 7 picks thrown)
4) Matt Schaub (You don’t lead the league in passing because you’re no good)
3) Drew Brees (Do I need to say more?)
2) Ben Roethlisberger (2 rings and he’s been in the league for what… 5 years?)
1) Tom Brady (I hate him and the Pats so much, but he’s proved himself, can’t deny it)

Peyton is a future hall of famer. There are only two other certains, Brady and Favre. Therefore Peyton can’t be worse than 10 qbs.

I would only take 4 other QB’s over him because he is a choker. in his last super bowl win he choked but the rest of his team saved him. He plays great in the rugular season but not in the Post season.
Brett Favre
Drew Brees
Tom Brady
Phillip Rivers
