The video that you gave the code of was interesting. That was actually far beyond a pure methodological problem, but a case of manipulating the actual poll RESULTS (either willingly or through a technical error), rather than the poll question itself. You can of course also question the lumping together of the Other candidates, but doing polling over the phone can be difficult as it is with several options to choose from.

Polls are unreliable when there is room for different wordings of the question that would sway an interviewee in either direction, as is shown in the video when they ask about programs for illegal immigrants. This is not the case when you ask “Which candidate would you vote for if today was election day?” Pretending that these types of questions pose the same methodological problems is just wrong.
