Hi there

I need help to write my personal statement of two subjects which they are Pharmacy and Radiography
How I will start my personal statement ?? Please help me

Thanks in advance

To be honest, you can’t. Those who attempt to usually end up with very few conditionals. Unless you’re applying for two different related subjects which you wish to study within the same degree (e.g. BA Ancient History with Archaeology) or you’re going for a joint honours, it’s application suicide.

Pick one or the other, or just apply to mostly below standard Universities which are likely to give most applicants places.

This is the advice given on the UCAS website. http://www.ucas.ac.uk/students/applying/howtoapply/personalstatement/keypoints

    Applying to multiple courses

Remember that you only write one personal statement so it will be used for all your choices. Try not to mention a university or college by name, even if you’re applying to only one university - your personal statement cannot be changed if you apply to a different place later.

If you’re applying for different subjects or courses, you need to identify the common themes and skills that are relevant to your choices. For example, both mathematics and law are subjects where you have to think logically and apply rules. You may like both subjects because you enjoy solving problems, using theory and natural or man-made laws to come to a correct conclusion.

If your chosen courses can’t be linked by a common theme, think about your reasons for applying to such varied courses - it might be useful to speak to a careers adviser to get some guidance.

If you mention a subject in your personal statement and are applying to other courses, you may be asked by the university or college for additional information about why you have chosen alternative courses.

No links, but the format is pretty much the same. This is adapted from the one I give my high school students, but you should get the general idea. I used the format for my personal statement to start my PhD program.

In general you want your essay to follow this order:

Paragraph 1-2 attention grabber. Think of an experience in your life that really showcases who you are. Be detailed. Discuss something signifcant in your life. It could be anything. Or discuss why you want to be in your profession.

Paragraph 3-4. Highlight your academics: GPA, AP and honors classes. What skills you learned in class that will help in succeeding in college. Awards and honors that you have received. Sports or clubs that you are in.

Paragraph 5. Jobs that you have had that relate to your majore? Any other things about yourself that you want to include

    Paragraph 6: Conclusion
