    What did Batista’s …
What did Batista’s officers and secret police do???? They siege, tortured and murdered dissenters. Youths and old men. No one was spared. Yet, no one brings that up. No anti-castro Cuban or critic brings up that dark shadow of Cuba’s history. Yes, Che Guevara murdered Batista’s officers who commited unspeakable acts. Yes, Che Guevara believed in execution. You can’t let parasites who prey on the masses live. They will only try to undermine the New Government, and try to revert the old order.

    Then in the spirit …
Then in the spirit of free argument, provide serious sources of counter scholarship. Gott has been reporting on Latin America for over 40 years. My main point was that people should take the time to read and inform themselves before trying to throw stones as others here do. We live in a society where people trash figures like Guevara and then can’t find Brazil or Cuba itself on a map.

    I’ve read “Cuba: A …
I’ve read “Cuba: A New History” by RIchard Gott. And although very informative Mr. Gott was missing alot of vital information. And I dont blame him, the version of events he’s been told about were told by men who would supress the truth just so history wouldnt see them as murderers and tyrants. Men who beat torture and intimidate dissidents who dont share their point of view. Men, who if you were in their country, wouldnt give you the option to “respectfully disagree”..

    The haters need to …
The haters need to get an education. Che is an icon at the level of Bolivar, Sandino, Farabundo Marti, if the haters even know who they are. Some good books to be informed: “Cuba: A New History” by Richard Gott, “Guevara, Also Known as Che” by Paco Ignacio Taibo II and “Che: A Revolutionary Life” by Jon Lee Anderson. For his writings check out “The Che Guevara Reader.”

    It’s curious that …
It’s curious that you mention ignorance Comrade. For romanticizing a Mass Murderer like Ernesto Guevara in just that, ignorance. This is a man how killed his own men, children and even pregnant women. Not a courageous hero, but a coward. Imperialism and Capitalism are flawed, I agree. But Totalitarianism and Communism are equally as bad. Freedom fighter? No. Freedom is a choice not something that is imposed. “Those who imposed their will, are just as bad as those they have depose.” - Ron Paul

    As I have said …
As I have said before, the ever more sophisticated weapons piling up in the arsenals of the wealthiest and the mightiest. They can kill the illiterate, the ill, the poor and the hungry, but they cannot kill ignorance, illness, poverty or hunger.
