November 24, 2010 - 12:04 am

I admin with a group on FB that focuses on 16 & Pregnant, as well as teen pregnancy issues and prevention I would really like to aproach the Breast or bottle debate, any ideas for a good openings statement?!
Because the Idea of this group is get everyones opinions across on certain matters.

"Breast feeding is best for babies, but is it best for mother as well?"
it helps take off weight. but sometimes it can be a hassle so cover all those topics and then in your closing statement state why no matter what it is best or not best…

Why start that? It will end up nasty. Some women can’t breast feed due to work (inability to pump), medications or health issues.
This is a horrible thing to start.

How can we get information/support to new moms in order to help them successfully breastfeed their babies?

What obstacles do new moms run into when they’re trying to start a nursing relationship with their baby?

Are you trying to start a debate over how to start a debate? lol…

Between 1982 and 1994 alone, there were 22 recalls of infant formula in the United States.
Seven of these recalls were classified by the FDA as "Class I" or potentially life threatening.

"I think that most women want to breastfeed and everyone agrees it is best but not a lot of women do breastfeed longer than a few weeks." Then go into statistics. I think the focus of the debate should be to bring up the challenges that women face and offer a real sollution (rebuttal) to the problems they have. Maybe they don’t know the resources of lactation specialists available to them so they don’t stick to it. When they have to go to work early they assume they can’t nurse unless they pump, but they can do bottle and breast if they want to. You don’t just have to nurse and to me pumping was a PAIN> I will never do it again.

    Is breast milk really free?

thinking about al the time and effort and feeding on demand associated with breast milk. Many teens feel that they can just breast feed so there is no point in planning for money for formula, or food for the baby. They don’t realize it is a 24/7 job and commitment and if you are going to be away from your baby for work or school it is an even harder job!
