The Keith Whitley ociation is a group of fans and concerned individuals who WORK TOGETHER to keep the music of Keith Whitley alive. The Keith Whitley ociation was founded on June 26, 2008 by Flo Whitley, the sister-in-law of Keith Whitley, and YouTube’s own cherrie68. Our Mission Statement is, “we strive to honor Keith Whitley by preserving and promoting his music. We commit to serve as a source of information for his many fans.” The Keith Whitley ociation is authorized and supported by the Whitley family.
Future plans for the ociation and scheduled events are announced on the group’s Yahoo! page and on the group’s Facebook page. The next scheduled KWA-sponsored event will be a Keith Whitley Day on Saturday, August 1, 2009 from 1pm-4 pm at the Kentucky Music Hall of Fame & Museum in Renfro Valley, KY, with musical performances by 2009 Colgate Country Showdown finalist and Lexington, KY native Korey Blake, singer/songwriter Jannet Lee, Keith’s nephew Michael Keith Whitley and Ty Harper, CJ Garton, & Kentucky Bluebird Keith Whitley tribute band lead vocalist Chris Caskey. Corey Frizzell, “artist to the stars,” will present the museum with a beautiful sketch of Keith. I will be emcee for the event. Our big event this year will be the Keith Whitley Memorial Concert on Saturday, October 10, 2009, from 7:30 pm to 2:30 am at the Nashville Palace. Admission is $20 at the door, with proceeds going to the Keith Whitley Memorial Fund. More acts are signing on to perform every day! Heath Ledger Dead at 28! RIP (Corrections/Update in SideBar)

BIG EDIT: NYTIMES RETRACTED STATEMENT THAT THE APARTMENT WAS OWNED BY MARY KATE. So disregard that. (6:11PM EST EDIT)
Heath was found in his own apartment.
According to sources Heath was suffering from pneumonia at the time of his death.
As of 10AM EST (January 23rd) the autopsy came back inconclusive.
I was not planning on doing news today, but this happened and I felt I needed to post.
