PARIS, France (CNN) — The bodies of two men, one of whom was confirmed to be a passenger from the Air France plane that is believed to have crashed in the Atlantic Ocean on Monday, were found early Saturday, a Brazilian air force spokesman said. Also found were a backpack and a leather briefcase containing an airplane ticket with a reservation code, which Air France verified belonged to a passenger on the jet, Jorge Amaral said. The Brazilian navy and air force said the backpack contained a laptop, and an oxygen mask also was discovered, the Brazilian navy and air force said.Air force officials announced the news in Recife, Brazil. The items were discovered 420 miles north of the Fernando de Noronha islands, 220 miles (355 kilometers) off the northeast coast of Brazil. It is not clear where the plane crashed, since ocean currents likely caused the bodies and debris to drift in the six days since the crash. All 228 passengers and crew aboard the Airbus 330 are presumed to have died when the plane disappeared northeast of the islands.

Two bodies and debris have been found from the Air France plane which went missing over the Atlantic last Monday, the Brazilian air force has said.
The remains were picked up some 800km (500 miles) north-east of Fernando de Noronha islands, off Brazil’s coast. Experts on human remains are on their way to examine the find. All 228 passengers and crew on board AF 447 are believed to have been killed when the plane disappeared during its flight from Rio de Janeiro to Paris.
“We confirm the recovery from the water of debris and bodies from the Air France plane,” air force spokesman Jorge Amaral told reporters in the northern city of Recife on Saturday. He later added that two male bodies had been found, as well as objects linked to passengers known to be on the flight, including a suitcase with a plane ticket and a backpack with a computer inside. “It was confirmed with Air France that the ticket number corresponds to a passenger on the flight,” Col Amaral said. A blue seat was also found, and Air France is checking the serial number to see whether it came from the flight. The remains were found not far from where the last signal from the plane was received and taken to the islands of Fernando de Noronha. The items were the first to be definitely linked to the plane, nearly six days after the crash.
But the BBC’s Gary Duffy in Sao Paulo says the authorities are adopting a cautious approach after previous reports of debris being found proved false.
Correspondents say that much of the search effort so far has been focused on finding flight data recorders, which have sonar beacons - or “pingers” - attached to them.
But French officials say there was no guarantee the beacons were still attached to the flight recorders, and they may have been separated in the impact of the crash.
A French submarine is being sent to join in the search since it had sonar equipment that could help locate the airliner’s flight data recorders.
The US is also sending specialised listening equipment.

McCAIN: LIPSTICK ON PIG OK FOR HILLARY Sarah Palin Too Frail to Handle It?

The first link is a story about how CBS forced McCain to pull his ad down because they were misleadingly using Katie Couric’s statement.

OH SNAP!!!

The second link is Huckabee saying it was just a phrase and he felt Obama meant nothing by it… the third is a link to John McCain using the phrase YET AGAIN himself!

He has become a little absent-minded. Please forgive him.

John McCain surely forgets a lot. I think he’s getting quite old now. And of course when that happens you start to forget things. You know.

I guess he was FOR using the ‘lipstick on a pig’ phrase BEFORE he was AGAINST it - when using it on Hillary’s plan for healthcare.

If there is anything that is evidence that John McCain is JUST PLAIN LYING about working constructively across the aisle, this in fact is it. He is criticizing in a personal way, directly, Hillary Clinton’s attempt to put together a health care plan for Americans.

I guess he was FOR attacking others with good ideas BEFORE he was AGAINST it too.

John McCain & Sarah Palin. They say whatever comes into their heads (which is obviously not much.

Incompetent Barack Obama White House Forced to Apologzie for Health Care Spam Email Fiasco

August 19, 2009 - 7:04 am 25 Comments

(8.16.09) — And these guys think they can run health care for all Americans? Right.

More humiliation for a reeling Obama White House as they are forced to publicly acknowledge that a would-be viral email from Senior Presidential Adviser David Axelrod was spammed to a number of unwitting recipients.

The case has also raised privacy concerns.

Further, the Drudge Report is stating this afternoon that the ill-conceived Flag@WhiteHouse.gov snitch site may be shut down. It is apparently bouncing back emails which are sent to the address.

Avian/Swine Flu Update! - April 23, 2009

August 19, 2009 - 7:04 am 25 Comments

The World Health Organization expressed “heightened concern” on Friday over more than 800 “influenza-like” cases reported in Mexico, after seven cases of a severe respiratory illness were confirmed in two U.S. border states.

WHO spokesman Gregory Hartl told CBC News on Friday that health officials are dealing with three separate events in Mexico, with most of the 828 cases in and around the capital, Mexico City.

At least 24 cases have been reported in the central region, while four have been reported in the north. The mystery illness has led to at least 20 deaths in the country.

Most of the cases have occurred in healthy young adults, Hartl said.

“Because these cases are not happening in the very old or the very young, which is normal with seasonal influenza, this is an unusual event and a cause for heightened concern,” Hartl said in an interview from WHO headquarters in Geneva.

It is also rare to see such high flu activity so late in the season, he said.

“The end of April, especially in a place like Mexico, you would think that we would see quite a steep decline,” said Hartl.
All classes cancelled in Mexico City

A Mexican Health Ministry statement issued on Thursday afternoon said the country “was in the presence of a new influenza virus that constitutes a respiratory epidemic which is controllable, so far.”

But laboratory tests on the 828 Mexican cases have yet to confirm the patients are suffering from influenza, or what strain it might be, Hartl said.

The Mexican government ordered that all classes in Mexico City and the surrounding state be cancelled on Friday, from pre-schools to universities. It also has warned the public to avoid gathering places and major events.

On Thursday, Canadian health officials issued a travel advisory warning travellers who have recently returned from Mexico to be on alert for flu-like symptoms that could be connected to the illness.

In the U.S., health officials were scrambling this week to deal with a new strain of swine flu, which has been diagnosed in seven people in Texas and California.

The states share a border with Mexico not far from a town where two deaths were reported.

The U.S. cases are unusual, because it appears none of the patients had contact with pigs, and the virus is one that health officials have never seen before.

No cases of this swine flu have been found in Canada.
Samples positive for influenza A and B

The cause of the illness has not been confirmed. Mexican health officials said samples so far have tested positive for influenza A and B.

People infected with the virus initially suffer flu-like symptoms that include: * Fever. * Cough. * Sore throat. * Muscle and joint pain. * Shortness of breath.

The illness may elevate to a severe respiratory illness within about five days.

In Canada, the travel advisory includes the same advice given to all travellers: Get a flu shot and take precautions such as covering coughs and staying home when sick. But it also adds locations in Mexico where cases of a severe respiratory illness have occurred.
